Scrapbooking is a very popular technique that is slowly being introduced in our country. Basically it consists of gathering photos and memories to make quite elaborate albums. All this started in the USA. UU. at the end of the 19th century and, as the Americans know how to see the business, they have exploited it until it becomes an industry that moves millions of dollars. Although originally used to create albums, the technique has been developed to be used for many more things.
Normally I never make photo albums of my travels, call it pure laziness or lack of space, but lately I am suffering a kind of need to express myself creatively and when Gemma commented on the subject of scrapbooking while we were in New York, it immediately caught my attention.
Facing a creation from scratch is not an easy task.
In Barcelona there are several stores specialized in scrapbooking but one of the best is Cromatismes. Apart from selling the material, they also have initiation and improvement courses and this weekend we finally get a place for the express initiation course.
The course, which was a two-hour session (20 euros), was aimed at giving some basic guidelines on scrapbooking and it taught several techniques to develop your designs. The truth is that the most complicated thing is to think what you want to do and how to do the assembly since the imagination has no limits and facing a blank page is not always easy. Luckily, in the course we made two established models while following the guidelines they gave us.
I dedicated the first sheet to Flatiron.
It was certainly a bit stressful, because while I was still finishing the first sheet, almost the whole group started the second. But I had a great time and I am considering doing more courses in the future, although scrapbooking is a very expensive hobby since you have to buy many accessories and materials that are not cheap at all.
