We continue with the stories of blogtrip what did we do at Maldiva's Islands in November 2016. On this occasion we snorkelled in the resort reef Angsana Velaravu and we learned to prepare curry in the style of the Maldives.
After the first day We could verify that the breakfast is very complete: it includes tortillas made at the moment and also pancakes and waffles, in addition to many other hot dishes and typical sweets. We took the opportunity to take energy while consulting the scrutinized results of the US elections.
Later we met at the «marine center» to do the snorkeling excursion on the outer face of Coral reef. We boarded a boat with other hotel guests and took us there with three or four monitors. Upon arriving at the place they gave us a little explanation so as not to get lost. We put the fins, the glasses, the tube and ... to the water!
As soon as I put my face under the water I discovered a spectacular world down there. I advanced using the fins following the reef line. The first thing that surprised me was that the reef that forms the island of the hotel had been transformed into a underwater cliff where the background was out of sight in an increasingly dark navy blue. On the contrary, on the left, the white reef was shown loaded with life. Although most of the corals were petrified, many fish of many colors roamed the recesses, chasing each other, or nibbling on the corals.
It was hard for me to focus my gaze on a single point. When I recovered from the first impression, I kept moving forward and watched everything calmly: bright blue-bodied fish and yellow crest, serious-faced fish with a horn on its forehead, turquoise fish with reddish-yellow details, black fish, orange, yellow, elongated fish ...
I loved especially the large banks of electric blue fish that passed just below us without flinching. Or the banks of tiny fish that dispersed quickly when you approached swimming. In short, it was about 45 minutes that flew by. And they left me wanting to repeat.
Afterwards, a swim in the pool, shower and eat. In addition to various hot meat and fish dishes and salads, that day the hotel offered some skewers of barbecue tuna, very good. There were also risotto croquettes or spring rolls, among many other dishes.
Just after lunch, the restaurant chef gave us a cooking demonstration and prepared two typical Maldivian dishes. First one curry chicken curry, and later «Keevub», some croquettes with tuna meat, lentils, rice flour and various spices. Very good with sweet chili sauce. The funny thing was when they sat us down again at the table so we could taste what they had just cooked before our eyes. It was the day we ate twice! Of course, with the croquettes we could no longer. The chef told us he would send them to us for dinner ... and we laughed.
